Kitchen will become head chef at Araxi restaurant.

The last person standing at the end of the sixth season, which starts July 21 on Fox, will work alongside Araxi executive chef James Walt. Araxi is opened by Top Table Group, which also runs CinCin, West and Blue Water Café in Vancouver.

Top Table spokesperson Shelley McArthur said the Canadian Tourism Commission was working with the Hell’s Kitchen production company to line up a B.C. restaurant for the show in time for the Olympic Winter Games in 2010.

“Gordon Ramsay was at the restaurant in January and he was impressed with the restaurant and with James,” McArthur said.

She is not allowed to say whether the 16 aspiring head chefs on Hell’s Kitchen visited the restaurant during production, but McArthur said just appearing on the show would introduce Araxi to a larger audience.

Araxi opened in the B.C. mountain resort town in 1981.
