A first for EAT! Vancouver
VANCOUVER—For the first time in the history of EAT! Vancouver, a female chef won the Master Chef Competition.
Nevada Cope bested 16 male chef competitors, including Harmon Gill, last year’s
Master Chef winner. She made the winning dish from quail, ground pork,
chorizo, turnip and Windset Farms Gusto hot peppers in just 35 minutes.
Currently cooking in the kitchen at the Coast Coal Harbour hotel and La Vallee at the Executive Hotel, Cope is a graduate the Art Institute of Vancouver’s Culinary Arts program. She’s also worked at a number of Vancouver restaurants: Joe Fortes, Bridges and Zin as well as GM Place.
For her efforts, Cope won a Ken Onion 11 pc block set of chef’s knives provided by Shun and the House of Knives, valued at $2200. She also received a complete set of china valued at $1700, courtesy of Dudson China.

EAT! Vancouver returns to the city’s convention centre June 10-12, 2011 and EAT! Fraser Valley takes over the Tradex Convention Centre in Abbotsford Sept. 17-19, 2010.
