Spending from Feb. 12-21 increased 128 per cent compared to the same
time period a year earlier. Downtown Vancouver restaurants saw an
increase of 89 per cent during the Winter Games.
Minimum wage rates in Alberta have been frozen for the rest of 2010.
The province’s $8.80 wage, sixth highest in the country after Manitoba,
will be the subject of a minimum wage policy review.
A number of new restaurants, coffee shops and eateries are moving into the Chinook Centre in Calgary, as part of the mall's 180,000 square foot $280 million expansion. As many as 80 new stores are being added.
The 2,200 square foot Prestons has seating for 105 people. Its street
level has 10 private booths and an 18-foot long communal table carved
from a slab of solid cypress weighing in at one tonne.
